Some guests express frustration about the cash-only policy, as it restricts those who rely on cards, potentially deterring casual drop-ins. Despite the clean atmosphere, the seating area near the counter can become busy and congested during peak hours, making it less enjoyable for an intimate dining experience. Certain patrons note wait times during the dinner rush, particularly on Fridays, which is the busiest day. Additionally, some comment that the restaurant could benefit from a more extensive menu variety. These minor issues, however, do not detract significantly from the overall positive experience.
Rushden Ramblers Sunday Walking Group, made Local Fish & Chips our half way lunch break and could not have chosen a better place to stop. Friendly staff, helpful service and everyone agreed that the fish & Chips were excellent. Clean facilities and very tidy. Good value for money.
If you're looking for great fish and chips, look no further than local fish and chips. We visited for a quick dinner as a family of 4 and ate in. The quality of the food was outstanding, haddock was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Super staff very friendly!!
The best fish chips and mushy peas I have had in a very long while. Very clean restaurant and good service. Even the mug of tea was spot on and very cheap. Four of us sat down for lunch and nothing was left. Top notch quality.
Friendly staff and great value food: their £10 fish, chips and mushy peas is great value. And they're really grateful if you can pay in cash.. no problem!
Excellent haddock, chips and (large) peas which compare favourably to that offered by the numerous chippies across the UK I've visited in the last forty-odd years. The service deserves a full five stars, lovely people. You can call and order in advance of collection reducing the wait time. There is a restaurant area which I have used once with family and found a pleasant experience though the tables at the front are a bit too busy with the counter, people waiting and the front door. The prices for eating in are reasonable. The (takeout) meal totted up to around £14 which is in line with other local takeaways. Fish and chips hasn't been a cheap meal option for a while now - every component has rocketed in price from potatoes to oil and that's before you even consider inflated energy costs, rent and business rates. Please note it is strictly cash only which seems a little limiting as it will turn away some casual customers. I haven't routinely carried cash or even a debit card in years so would be unable to just 'drop in' on the way past the (very well placed) location in town.
Best fish and chips I have ever had! Absolutely fresh, not frozen, and cooked to perfection. Portion size will satisfy even a robust eaters
Great little cafe in centre of town, food was cooked fresh 😋 to order. Portion size was good and value for money
